Software Consulting Engagement Models
Engagement Models
A few clear ways to work together — from long-term technical partnerships to focused project delivery and advisory support.
Long-Term Partnership
A fixed monthly engagement where I work as an embedded technical partner, supporting ongoing development and improvement of your systems.
- Predictable cost and capacity
- Continuous system improvement
- Deep familiarity with your business and platforms
- Faster response to evolving requirements
Project-Based Engagement
Focused delivery for clearly defined systems, integrations, or platform improvements.
- Clear scope and milestones
- Regular demos and progress reviews
- Delivery structured around real business outcomes
Technical Advisory & Oversight
Independent technical perspective for organisations with existing development teams.
- Architecture and system design reviews
- Delivery risk and quality oversight
- Support for technical leadership and planning
Not the Right Fit
I’m always happy to point people in the right direction, but the following situations usually aren’t the best fit.
Very small-budget builds
If the budget can’t support professional delivery and ongoing support, you’ll usually get better results from off-the-shelf tools or template-based solutions.
Equity-only proposals
I don’t take on work on an equity-only basis. If you’re early-stage, I’m still happy to help shape a technical plan you can execute once funding is in place.
No clear commercial purpose
Projects without a clear business objective tend to drift. I work best where there’s a tangible outcome to deliver and measure.
Discussing a Project
Most engagements begin with a short conversation about the problem you're trying to solve. From there we can quickly determine the most suitable way to work together.
